Kajukenbo Overview

KAJUKENBO began in 1947 at the Palama Settlement on Oahu, Hawaii from a group calling themselves the “Black Belt Society.”

This group consisted of black belts from various martial arts background” was the beginning of an evolutionary, adaptive style designed to combine the most useful aspects of the arts.

Peter Young Yil Choo contributed by introducing “Empty Hand Combat” otherwise known as Korean Tang Soo Do. Joe Holek and Frank Ordenez contributed by introducing “The Gentle Way” of Japanese Judo and Jujitsu.

Teen Program

Our teen program builds self-confidence as well as confidence in others. Learning the art of Kajukenbo teaches teens discipline and self-awareness of Mind, Body, Spirit. This program will enhance one’s self, being, and connection to the inner warrior.

Adult Program

Coast Karate Studio’s Adult martial arts program offers many benefits. We can help you lose weight while developing habits for a healthy lifestyle. The adult program also focuses on building self-confidence and self-awareness through mental discipline, a positive attitude, structured learning, and self-control.
